Winston has led backpacking trips for high school age young people since graduating from Colorado State University in 1973. His love of the wilderness and sharing that love with others is his strong passion. Winston’s other passions, along with his wife Mary, are world travelling and bicycle touring.

Amanda Jordan
Backpack Coordinator Apprentice/Lead Guide
Amanda is a long time Sonlight staffer and has worked as a main camp counselor for two years and is going on her third year as a backpack guide! She graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in May 2022 with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations. When she’s not backpacking she loves mountain biking, finding new craft projects and photography!

Emma Briskman
Backpack Guide
Emma is heading into her second year as a Sonlight Backpack Guide. She recently graduated from Elon University in 2022 with a degree in Adventure-Based Learning and Psychology. In her free time, Emma finds joy in baking, snowboarding, and yoga!
